What is linking and back-linking?

On one fine day you manage to create your own website with every tool to assist you. You write contents, design pages and promote it to be on top of Google profile. Despite all these efforts do you really think it is sufficient? Well there are some points you might have missed and linking is one of them.

Today we will discuss about what is linking and how does it work. Primarily there are two types, the back-link and external links though they work in similar fashion. After you have created a page with enough valuable content, it is time to link it to another source. Linking is when you connct your webpage to an external site. The site somehow has the same content as yours. Linking is in other words the good word of mouth from another website that the content the reader is accessing is noteworthy.

Linking definition

Connecting your page with another website is simple definition, but to dive in deeper it is categorized further into back-links. Back-links are also known as “incoming links” or “inbound links” where our webpage would be connected to external website. Links that can go from another site back to your site can be termed as back-links.

Why linking is important?

Usually more than 80 percent of the time, people do not care about links as it has to be done at the end. Some people are just too lazy to create links risking their worthy content and get no appreciation from the other websites and Google alike. As a result the reader eventually bounces (leaving the website due to lack of interest). Ultimately if you start linking you are already in the top game of being an SEO expert. When you back-link Google tries to analyze assuming your website’s content is valuable because it has been linked to numerous other sources and it places your website in an optimization mode. Since Google cannot personally read every article and judge if its good or not, it usually follows the analytics formula and adjust your webpage accordingly and links are no exceptions.

How to back-link?

Once you have written your quality content, you must back-link. First of all look around and assess which websites have good ranking on Google and try to link your source with theirs. Keep in mind the websites with high quality content would prove beneficial when linking as compared to websites with poor quality. Eventually you will see your website has already been receiving more link requests than before.

Secondly try to build your links slowly, if you rush on linking the consequences could be your website being penalized. Google does not wants its terms to be violated so you have to be very careful.For example if I have written the content on my WordPress blog, then i would probably be linking MOZ.com or Optimizely as these websites heavily promote SEO techniques.

Do not panic if you are clueless where to start. Initially back-links seem like difficult task so that is where competitive back-link research kicks in. Look over the internet and research about those websites that have high linking profile. Use tools like Link Explorer if you want to study the insight f their linking system so you can master it in lesser time.

It is in simple term connecting to other pages. At first it seems confusing and tiring task to do but once you get the hold of it, you realize its functionalities have advantages.
